Dr Bitar Makes History at ICOPLAST in Dubai

My latest trip to Dubai was an amazing one that I would like to share with you! I was honored to be an invited speaker to present three lectures on areas of my expertise including Ethnic Rhinoplasty, Suture-Suspension Necklift, and Transaxillary Breast Augmentations.

The invitation to be the chairman of a world-class rhinoplasty session was an additional honor. I connected with dear friends and relatives and was part of two historic Guinness Book of World Record breaking events at the Dubai World Trade Center!

The invitation came from the prestigious International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST) that represents sixty-two plastic surgery societies from around the world, and 25,000 surgeons, by far the largest in the world, bringing together plastic surgeons and fostering the latest in safe aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery practices. I was proud to be one of the plastic surgeons representing the USA.

Transaxillary Breast Augmentation Lecture

I discussed my Transaxillary Breast Augmentation Technique that has gone through a lot of refinement over the years, including better breast implant pocket creation, becoming more flexible with a range of saline/silicone implant sizes placed behind the muscle through a smaller incision, and the addition of fat grafting to create beautiful natural looking cleavage.

Suture Suspension Necklift Lecture

The Suture Suspension Necklift: A Versatile Technique for Facial Rejuvenation was very well received. I was able to showcase the chiseled jawlines and neck contour that this technique achieves on both sexes and all adult ages in a permanent manner.

The question/answer session was very educational. I love exchanging ideas with my colleagues around the world, all for the goal of improving our techniques for the sake of giving our patients even better, safer, and more natural results. As I teach my fellows, never stop learning, never stop teaching, never stop growing!

Finesse in Ethnic Rhinoplasty Lecture

My talk on Finesse in Ethnic Rhinoplasty was an important one because rhinoplasty, in general, is a challenging surgery for a cosmetic surgeon. I discussed the evaluation of the anatomical makeup of the nose and giving the patient the nose that suits their ethnicity and enhances their facial features.

I showed some beautiful rhinoplasty results from patients with different ethnic backgrounds and from all over the world on whom I had the privilege to operate. Being the rhinoplasty session chairman was an added honor, introducing the talks of very highly respected international rhinoplasty surgeons.

Camaraderie, Connection and Beautiful Scenery

The Beautiful scenery in Dubai and the camaraderie with dear friends from around the world, Lebanese friends and relatives who live in Dubai, with whom I reconnected at this meeting and the newly minted friendships were all additional benefits of this trip.

Dubai has risen to becoming an amazing destination. I first went there as an invited speaker to the ArabPlast Conference in 2000 to give a talk on laser hair removal when it was brand new technology. I was later invited by the government of Dubai to give talks on body contouring and facial rejuvenation at the Dubai International Symposium for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2018. Dubai has come a long way in the last twenty years. During the conference we enjoyed a beautiful evening and a show.

Breaking Records: A Historic Plastic Surgery Session Recognized by Guinness World Records

The real “Cherry on Top” of this conference was being part of a historical plastic surgery session in the presence of officials from The Guinness Book of World Records who officially declared that our lecture broke the Guinness Book of World Records record for the two “greatest number of plastic surgeons attending a plastic surgery lecture”, and the “most nationalities represented at a plastic surgery lecture”. I was proud to represent the USA, and the excitement of such a historical event will live in my mind and heart forever.
