George Bitar, MD, FACS is an award-winning, fellowship-trained, board certified plastic surgeon who has performed over 20,000 cosmetic facial and body procedures.
He is the founder and Medical Director of the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute in Fairfax, VA (Merrifield area). The institute is an all encompasing aesthetic surgery practice with its own surgery center and adjoining Medspa. Patients can receive all their cosmetic treatments under one roof including skin care, injectables, lasers, non surgical body sculpting and cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Bitar has been voted as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Plastic Surgeons by his peers, and has also been named a Top Plastic Surgeon by Northern Virginia Magazine . He has also been featured as one of the Top Plastic Surgeons in America in United Hemispheres Magazine . He has also been voted as Best Plastic Surgeon on the East Coast at the Aesthetic Everything Awards in Beverly Hills in 2019. Uniquely trained by some of the modern masters of cosmetic surgery in Rio de Janeiro, Paris, New York, and Beverly Hills, Dr. Bitar has assimilated the latest techniques, offering each patient an individualized plan, whether surgery or non-surgical improvement is the goal. Dr. Bitar lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, Rima, and their children, John and Gabriella.
Also fascinated by the arts, Dr. Bitar applies his artistic talents to watercolor painting and photography, providing his patients their own unique, aesthetic harmony.

Dr. Bitar obtained his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, where he now serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor. He then finished a general surgery residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. His plastic surgery residency was completed at the University of Virginia Plastic Surgery Program, which provided him with a strong foundation in reconstructive surgery, for people injured in accidents or who have facial deformities or severe burns, and in hand surgery and microsurgery.
As an assistant clinical professor at the George Washington School University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Bitar is involved in educating upcoming doctors and has lectured about his procedures at national and international medical conventions. He is also a frequent lecturer at Georgetown University and the University of Virginia’s Plastic Surgery Departments. A firm believer in medical research, he has authored several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters, and co-authored a book for other plastic surgeons about the neck lift technique that he has helped develop, as well as a major study about safety of cosmetic surgery on 4,470 patients.
As a continued commitment of enhancing the quality of life through plastic surgery, Dr. Bitar has operated on 6 continents and volunteered on medical missions to various countries and operated on children with severe burn, facial and hand deformities. He volunteers on the medical school admissions committee at George Washington University. Dr. Bitar is also fluent in French and Arabic.
To provide his patients with high quality cosmetic surgery, Dr. Bitar completed a cosmetic and breast surgery fellowship in the United States at a prestigious cosmetic surgery center with ten board-certified plastic surgeons. Internationally, he trained with some very prominent cosmetic surgeons, and learned the techniques of Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, the father of Brazilian cosmetic surgery, in Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Marchac in Paris, Dr. Mendelson in Melbourne, Dr. Widgerow in Johannesburg, and Dr. Ellenbogen in Beverly Hills.
With this international training, Dr. Bitar has assimilated the secrets of these prominent cosmetic surgeons by offering each patient an individualized treatment plan.
His specialty in cosmetic surgery spans mastery in the latest surgical and minimally invasive techniques to scar management and reduction. He has co-authored various articles and two book chapters, and teaches other plastic surgeons his state-of-the-art neck lift technique with a hidden scar and a special fibrin sealant for younger people who do not need a full facelift and want a quick recovery period.
He is also a specialist in body contouring, especially after significant weight loss, ranging from liposuction, creating a contoured “six-pack” abdomen to arm lifts, thigh lifts, tummy tucks, and lower body lifts. Dr. Bitar is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons.
He has completed a breast fellowship and wrote a book chapter on breast augmentations via the axillary approach, so he offers his patients a variety of options when it comes to breast enhancement, including breast augmentations, reductions, lifts, and replacement of breast implants. He also believes in minimally invasive techniques and uses natural fillers, and Botox injections for minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, giving great improvements with minimal downtime. In addition, Dr. Bitar is an specialist in non-surgical rhinoplasties.
His comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation acquired in Beverly Hills includes forehead lifts, facelifts, neck lifts, eyelid lifts, nasal reshaping, fat grafting and skin care. He trained in Johannesburg with a leading specialist in a scar management program, and offers it to his patients. He has been an invited guest speaker on laser treatments, as well as guidelines for safety of anesthesia in plastic surgery.
