Introduction
Many men are uncertain about exactly how to keep their skin looking fresh and young. Like women, men too need a great skin care regimen. More importantly, men need a great skin care regimen because of their daily shaving regimen. Shaving is the number one irritant to a man’s face and can cause many unwanted problems for the skin, such as irritation and ingrown hairs. First and foremost, you need to know your skin type (oily, normal, dry, combination). From there, you can understand the basics of great skin!

Men’s Skin Care
Here, at the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute, we offer the best in men’s skin care. Our emphasis is on educating men about their skin and specific needs. During your first visit, a licensed esthetician will sit down with you for a consultation to understand exactly what your concern is regarding your skin. Once established, your provider will treat your concern as necessary, using a variety of products and specific treatments. At the end of the treatment, the esthetician will review the necessary steps to keep your skin fresh and rejuvenated. Remember that commitment is the key!
Skincare Information
The three most important and most basic skin care regimens to begin with are: a cleanser, an exfoliator, and a moisturizer with SPF. The cleanser will remove excess oils and leave your skin nice and refreshed. An exfoliator will remove the dead skin cells that buildup everyday on your face and will speed up your cell renewal rate, in turn, allowing new cells to come to the surface. The moisturizer (with SPF) will lock moisture in your skin while at the same time blocking the dangerous UVA/UVB rays. When shaving is in question, remember to always clean your pores, prep your hair follicles (an oil containing a soothing ingredient, such as Eucalyptus, will do the trick) and shave with the growth of your hair. Once shaved, always apply an aftershave that contains an antiseptic ingredient (i.e., witch hazel) to close your pores and prevent ingrown hairs. Never use a product that contains alcohol as it can worsen any ingrown hairs due to the over-drying effect it has on skin.
