Not Happy with Your Chin? Here are 4 Fixes
The solution for your chin depends on why you are not happy with it. Most patients are not satisfied with their chin because they have too much (a double chin) or too little (a weak chin). There are both non-surgical and surgical options to address each problem.
Double Chin
We offer multiple solutions for patients unhappy with the fullness or fat under the chin that does not go away with eating healthy and exercising regularly.
1. Kybella: Non-surgical treatment for a double chin
Kybella® is an FDA-approved injection to reduce fat around the chin and neck. The active ingredient is a molecule that destroys fat cells. Once destroyed, these cells no longer store fat under the chin. During each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under the chin to break down the fat cells. It is ideal for patients with a moderate to severe double chin who want results with minimal downtime and no scarring.
2. Liposuction or Necklift: Surgical treatments for a double chin
Stubborn fat around the neck and chin can be permanently removed with liposuction. If you have both excess fat and skin around the neck and chin, a necklift may be a better option. Many patients are surprised that both procedures can be done in the office under local anesthesia with oral sedation. Of course, you always have the option of general anesthesia if you would prefer a quick nap over being awake.
Weak Chin
A chin augmentation can harmoniously balance out your face and profile.
3. Radiesse®: Non-surgical treatment for a weak chin
Radiesse® is a filler that is stiff and mimics bone. It is injected deep along the bone to create a sculpted profile. The immediate result is a chiseled chin and jawline with minimal downtime. Radiesse® is more long-lasting compared to other fillers, with results lasting for about a year.
4. Chin Implant: Surgical treatment for a weak chin
Some patients come for a rhinoplasty consultation because they are bothered by a “big nose,” but in reality, it is their small chin that can use the work. Giving more volume to a weak chin can balance out other features on the face and make them less prominent. The incision can be hidden below the chin or inside the mouth. A properly-sized silicone implant is placed along the chin and secured to the bone. It is a quick, straightforward procedure with high levels of satisfaction, both for the patient and surgeon.
