BBL Photo Rejuvenation

Northern Virginia & Washington DC

What Is A BBL™ Treatment?

BBL is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment that uses high intensity pulses of light to improve the appearance of sunspots and freckles, fine lines, and vascular lesions, including dilated and broken facial capillaries, persistent facial redness, and rosacea.

The BBL hand piece delivers high intensity pulses of broadband light that is different from the narrow band light of other lasers. The surface of the skin is not damaged during this treatment. The light is delivered to the deeper parts of the skin (dermis) and leaves the superficial aspect of the skin untouched. Because of this, the recovery time is very limited following a treatment, leaving you able to resume normal activity the same day.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

On average, three to six BBL treatments are recommended, scheduled at three-week intervals. Each person is unique and you and your provider will decide on a plan that is best for you.

How Long Does The Procedure Take?

Each session generally lasts about 45 minutes, and you can return to your normal activity immediately afterwards.

What Will My Face Feel Like After A Series Of BBL’s?

BBL brings about gradual changes over the course of the treatments. After the full course, you can expect to notice improved skin texture, decreased redness, more even skin color, a decrease in visual dilated capillaries and a youthful skin tone.

How Long Will The Results Last?

With good sun protection and home care, results from a full series of treatments can last up to one year. It is important to note that BBL is not intended to substitute a surgical Facelift, ablative skin resurfacing (as in CO2 Resurfacing) or procedures that treat deep wrinkles and sagging skin.

What Can I Expect With A Treatment?

Mild discomfort or pain associated with treatment. This may include a stinging sensation or slight burning, especially around the eyes and nose.
Transient erythema/edema may appear following the treatment.
Pigmented lesions may appear darker for up to fourteen days following treatment
A small crust or blister may form, which may take one week to heal

Who Is Not A Candidate For BBL Treatments?

  • BBL works best for fair complexions. Darker skin tones may experience increased pigmentation with light therapy
  • Current history of cancer
  • Active infection
  • History of recurrent herpes simplex, systemic lupus or porphyria
  • Immunosuppressive disease, including AIDS and HIV, or use of immunosuppressive disease medications
  • Recent sun exposure or use of self-tanning products
