Like any cosmetic treatment, dermal fillers carry potential risks that patients should understand before proceeding. Common side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection site, which typically resolve within a few days. Less frequent risks include asymmetry, lumps or nodules, migration of filler material, and prolonged swelling. Rare but serious complications can occur, such as vascular occlusion (when filler enters a blood vessel), skin necrosis, or vision changes if injections are not performed correctly. Allergic reactions, infection, or delayed inflammatory responses are also possible, though uncommon.
