As our skin ages, fine lines and wrinkles appear and an uneven or blotchy appearance can develop. The MicroLaserPeel™ and NanoLaserPeel™ treatments by Sciton remove skin damage and blemishes to a customizable depth, smoothing out the skin’s complexion and encouraging collagen production for radiant, clear skin that will look years younger. Both procedures are quick and virtually pain-free, thanks to the refined erbium laser of the Sciton system.
MicroLaserPeel™
The MicroLaserPeel™ by Sciton treats fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars and age spots to unveil skin that is blemish-free and beautiful. By precisely removing the top layers of the skin, a new layer of glowing, healthy skin can develop. The treatment uses an ablative laser to vaporize layers of damaged skin and can be used safely on the face, neck, hands, shoulders and chest.
During your initial consultation, the depth of the skin that the laser will need to reach will be determined. Light or mild skin damage needs only a shallow MicroLaserPeel™, while more developed wrinkles and scars will require a deeper treatment. While most patients see results after 1 treatment, some might require a series of two to four appointments spaced six to eight weeks apart to achieve optimal results. We will work with you to determine how many treatments will be necessary for the condition of your skin.
At the start of your procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied to reduce discomfort. The treatment is not considered painful, but you may feel a slight stinging sensation as the laser targets the damaged skin. Depending on the size or number of targeted areas, the procedure can be done in just a few minutes to half an hour.
After the procedure, your skin will feel like it has been sunburned. Many of our patients prefer to be out of the public eye for a day or two to recover so that any redness and mild swelling can subside. We recommend scheduling your appointment on a Thursday or Friday to benefit from the weekend for your recovery and minimize any disruption in your daily schedule.
Mineral makeup (such as Jane Iredale) can generally be used three days after the procedure to hide any remaining redness. The treated skin will peel and flake over the first 48 hours, but protective ointments like Vaseline and Aquaphor can accelerate recovery and provide a barrier for your sensitive skin as it heals. Sunblock will need to be used on a daily basis after the procedure and prolonged sun exposure, such as tanning, will need to be avoided for one month.
NanoLaserPeel™
The NanoLaserPeel™ is a lighter, less aggressive version of the MicroLaserPeel™ treatment. The same principles apply to this particular procedure but on a smaller scale. NanoLaserPeel™ appointments can be completed in as little as fifteen minutes and provide a rapid recovery of one to two days with immediate, satisfying results. We will work with your during your initial consultation to determine if you are a candidate for a NanoLaserPeel™, or if your skin requires a deeper treatment like the MicroLaserPeel™.
A series of NanoLaserPeel™ treatments is recommended for optimal results, and regular maintenance appointments every few months will ensure your complexion remains clear and vibrant. After a NanoLaserPeel™ appointment, you can expect to notice an improvement in both skin texture and tightness.
