Spider veins, or telengiectasias, are small, dilated veins within the skin. Typically caused by hormonal changes, genetics, and injury, these small veins may or may not be associated with venous disease. Their treatment is primarily of cosmetic concern. We offer BBL (Broad Band Light) Therapy to treat spider veins. BBL is a form of photo rejuvenation therapy that uses pulsed light to treat discoloration, age spots, redness, enlarged pores, fine lines, and spider veins.
PREPARING FOR THE TREATMENT
On the day of your appointment, do not wear lotion, sunscreen, make-up, or any other skin product on the area being treated. If you have been given instructions to bring compression stockings, please bring them to all office visits and wear as directed.
THE PROCEDURE
BBL™ TREATMENT OF SPIDER VEINS Spider veins or telengiectasias smaller than three millimeters can be treated using the Sciton BBL. BBL is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of light to improve the appearance of vascular lesions including dilated and broken facial capillaries. The procedure is quick and comfortable. After the treatment, a soft compressive dressing or compression stockings may be recommended.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
Redness / Hyperpigmentation Redness will be seen immediately after the treatment. This is normal and will resolve within a few hours. Some patients may also experience hyperpigmentation. This is also a normal part of the healing process. At your appointment, our staff members will provide you with detailed post-op care instructions so you know what to expect.
