If you’re in the greater Washington, D.C, Metropolitan area, your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation at the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute, where you’ll meet directly with Dr. George Bitar in Fairfax, VA, to discuss your concerns, lifestyle, and what you hope to achieve from eyelid surgery. This appointment is crucial—not only to evaluate the skin, fat, and muscle around your eyes, but also to determine the best technique to maintain your masculine facial features while delivering noticeable improvement. We’ll take a thorough medical history, review any medications you may be taking, and provide detailed pre-operative instructions, including stopping blood-thinning medications and supplements prior to surgery. You’ll also receive information about the recovery timeline and what to expect at each stage. Dr. Bitar will answer all your questions and may show you before-and-after photos of previous male patients, allowing you to envision potential results.
What to Expect on the Day of Male Eyelid Surgery
Most blepharoplasty procedures take one to two hours, depending on whether you’re having the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both treated. After you’re comfortably sedated—either with local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia—Dr. Bitar will make precise incisions along the natural creases of the eyelids or inside the lower lid to minimize visible scarring. Excess skin and fat are removed or repositioned, and muscles may be gently tightened for long-term correction. Once the procedure is complete, you’ll rest in our recovery suite and be released to a responsible adult who can take you home.
You’ll receive thorough aftercare instructions, and your first post-op appointment will typically be scheduled for the next day.
